Where to leave info

Hell, this is such a struggle and I've been trying every method I can find since 2016. Literally nothing worked reliably.

I set phone alarms with important info as descriptions and have them vibrate when I'm supposed to look at the stuff. I also wear a smart watch so my watch starts vibrating too. Set the snooze to every 10 minutes, 10x allowed, so if I can't get it taken care of yet I'd just snooze.

Seems to be unavoidable, but I only just started doing it, not sure how well it actually works because the last time I came up with something I thought was unavoidable (writing on my hand in permanent marker) I still managed to avoid looking at it for a long time. At this point? I'm honestly impressed, it's funny and sad.

The fridge. No joke. You have to eat so you have to go to the kitchen. If your fridge has a water dispenser even better because you need to drink water. Also use a brightly colored note that stands out against the color of it. I have a bright blue sticky note (one of the large ones) on the fridge that has some info on it.

We have a whiteboard for general info and mailboxes for more direct communication. Having something physical that you can see is a great reminder.

we keep lots of stickynotes and notepads at our desk (where we spend most of our time), its helpful for keeping not only notes to eachother but notes for ourselves to remember things. recently we got a handheld whiteboard to write down tasks/chores that need done, its been incredibly helpful for remembering things that need doing! but especially for leaving the house and needing info, our phone has several sticky note widgets on the home pages to keep lists and notes and remember names of things. its just right there when you unlock the phone so no digging for an app and waiting for it to load just to find info. absolute most desperate is writing on our arms/palms if something else isnt available

calendars arent great for notes (the occasional writing down bdays or important plans) but we use our calendar to keep track of switches! different color markers and dots to mean x switched with y, so if something comes up and you need to know who was out 3 weeks ago its easy to find

We use our calendar for as much as possible now and write notes in it. I set it up (iOS) so that there’s a calendar for each ‘theme’ and they’re colour coded to make all the info less overwhelming (body, mind, home, life admin, connection, miscellaneous and study/work). We try to write the titles to be descriptive but short and most of the time it works. Try to set multiple reminders. This helped with what you’re describing but mainly for tasks and we do still forget a bit. Our general notes are still chaotic though.

Consolidating helps! Only one note app per device, but it's one with multiple "notebooks" and notes can be tagged to easily search. That way I always know where to look. I keep a note pinned to the top of my notifications so it's easy to find a quick place to start typing.

I also have only one physical notebook that stays in a small bag I keep on me. With a planner in the front, blanks papers in the middle and journaling in the back. Again keeping it flexible so no matter what state I'm in it can be engaged with.

And one digital calendar where everyone/everything is color coded so it's easy to figure out what kind of event it is. That one we can customize the notifications so reminders happen regularly.

Also sticky notes, but beware once you put more than a certain amount up your eyes might start glossing over them. Careful to keep it low spoon to engage with, even just reading it to help prevent that. But a couple that direct folks on where to leave notes could be great.

Though honestly what really ensures we can all use these systems is mutual trust, understanding, and good communication. If you don't have any good lines of communication established then you'll continue to struggle to get everyone on the same page. So I'd say work on that first if needed.

Honestly we made a server for ourselves on Discord just for us and so far it has made leaving messages for one another really easy. We tried other appls like Antar to have conversations and such but we didn't stick with it due to just forgetting about it but we use Discord literally every day.

Plus we can customize what we want and have our little "Council Meetings" there too if needed or just set up reminders and stuff. Despite all the chaos Discord is going through, I've been really surprised at just how much you can do on the platform.

We use a whiteboard marker on our bathroom mirror. Everyday we change the date because we were constantly confused and unaware of the date and year, now it's become mostly a habit. We also track/countdown how many days till our next therapy session at the same time that we change the date. We will sometimes write important short notes to eachother on the mirror.

When amnesia is really bad and there's something very important to get done like paying a bill, buying something from the store, or returning something to a friend we use waterproof eyeliner and write the task on the back of our hand or inside our wrist. It mostly works!

I don't know if it helps, but when there is something important we need to remember down the line, but are afraid to write it down and have it "out there" for all the alters to see, I will send myself a post-dated letter. That way, it is out of my hands, and we can all forget about it until the letter arrives.

Idk for systems but I have ADHD so I forget a ton — what works for me is placing something in the middle of my room, on an empty spot, where I am going to walk through when leaving/entering my room. A note or the trash or whatever it is I have to do/remember. I physically can’t miss it like that lol

Only issue is I start ignoring it if it’s there for too long because then I train myself to just walk past it. But it works nicely if it’s a more or less sudden (under two days) thing.

Also this kinda depends on your habits but I text myself everything I have/want to remember out and about on Whatsapp. I do that multiple times a day for sure, so I tend to find important stuff early enough when I go to write down something else.

I tape really important stuff front and center on the inside of the front door. Every time anyone exits the house, they see it.

Ive seen folks who utilize task bracelets with customizable notes! So that might be an option since as long as theyre on the bodys wrist they are basically impossible to ignore
