My doctor called me tonight to let me know the results from my hip mri.
I was so scared they wouldn't find anything and I'd be thrown back into the loop of 'just exercise and lose weight and it'll go away'.
Well. Guess what? My weight isn't the issue.
I have the most severe case of hip impingement my doctors ever seen and end stage atrophy. I'm not sure what that actually means but it's something. I finally have an answer after being in severe pain for 5 and a half years.
My doctor said that surgery may be my only option for relief but he's going to talk with other doctors to see if there's other options.
I'm so hopeful right now. It's bad results but it's results I needed.
I hope you can tough it out while they try conservative treatment, but I wouldnt put up with too much torture, if youre just going to need a hip in the end, anyhow. If you need it, you need it. Hang in there....
Atrophy is tissue wasting. You'd probably get more out of it within the context of the findings on the MRI report. You should get your own copy, try to learn a little of what it says, so you know what they intend to do next. There's often a lot of repetition in these reports, mostly medical terms for direction/dimensions (posterior/anterior is a couple most folks know), so they arent as tough to read as they appear at a glance. You'll pick up on the lingo and the situation pretty fast, but above all do not be afraid to ask questions. This is serious shit, you need all the info you can get to make the best decisions for you. Best of luck...
