Anybody know the behind-the-scenes concerning Jone's character?

She didn't get much air time. Was she meant to be a short term character all around? Her strife with her father (deputy chief, "top man" of the CFD) not wanting her to be in harm's way with all that is something we can understand (even if misguided). In this case, they just wanted to show that some firefighters didn't really have much of a chance, be it bad luck, or just personal/relationship problems?

If that wasn't meant to be the case, was it some behind-the-scenes stuff, like she pissed off some cast members or higher ups on the show? Family/life emergency? She landed some other role?

Missed opportunity for a good storyline.

I can’t recall her story, I only remember the end of her run, from Gabby telling her something, to everyone hearing about her death.

Her dad was overprotective and overbearing of her. She tried firefighting to prove him wrong. He pulled his rank and favours getting her in. In the end she couldn’t take it and took her own life.

I don’t know about the actress just the character story

Now I’m starting to remember, If I recall her father wanted her in a desk job instead of being a firefighter.

Boden and Casey were gonna fight for her to stay at 51, but it didn’t happen, and once Gabby let her know what was going on, that was it.

While her father was the ultimate bad guy in this scenario, it would’ve been a less than tragic outcome if Gabby hadn’t said anything to her.

But that’s just my two cents, I’m not saying it was the right thing for Gabby to do, but like you said it was too much for Jones.

Like I said, this was one of a few missed opportunities for unexplored storylines in the first few seasons.

Gabby unfortunately was too selfish to care. Shay almost took her own life, Gabby’s lack of care did not help the situation. While I agree she should have said something about Jones’s cheating. She didn’t exactly welcome her with open arms to 51. Gabby wanted to be the only female firefighter.

I forgot who told the story (Rebecca, or her father), but when she was 10, her mother and her were in an auto collision and her mother/his wife didn't make it. The Chief's daughter reminds her of his wife, and is the only connection left to her, so he especially doesn't want her in harm's way.

AFAIK, it has nothing to do with getting to say their entire family is in the FD (it was mentioned the brothers and all the male relatives serve as firefighters).

Was it that bad? She was so pissed initially that she was going to just "let him have it" next time she ran into him. But she ended up returning Rebecca's things to her father, in person, and while she did sort of "i told you so" by saying she would've made a great firefighter... she did offer her condolences, and just left it at that.
