Not just that, but I swear some National Geographic stuff has popped up in my Youtube feed, and it is about UFOs or some shit. It made me think the organization is going the same way as the History Channel.
I have nat geo condoms
To go there where no man has gone before
Better off buying the good stuff from AliExpress than crap branded like this 😳
There is no good stuff from aliexpress, it's cheap Chinese garbage.
edit: prove me wrong, link me to something that's not garbage. Even their titanium products are thin and flimsy lmao, they can't make anything without cutting corners.
You’re just buying crap.
This thing is a solid chunk of CNCed metal that is super unique and doesn’t really exist anywhere else.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mO8aRdE
It’s chock full of shit, but Amazon is too. Now TEMU on the other hand is literally just the cheap stuff. They don’t really have many bigger vendors with actual good quality stuff. You may be mixing up the two.
There's a lot of good quality espresso gear on aliexpress, especially if you have a niche portafilter size/fitting.
A lot of stuff isn't bad I learnt that messing with 3d printers But ok https:// a.aliexpress.com/_EJDnbZV
Remove the space titanium pot that isn't crap
My brs3000t isn't crap either 🤷
All the nitecore stuff too is AliExpress gear with big markup by other companies
If only you realised 80+% of the stuff you buy is the same bought from china then just add your brand name and 700% to the price
iPhone is a made in china product like most other phones
My phone is awesome iiif150 b2 ultra 15000mah battery I used it to navigate all week on 1 charge £200!! I'll never buy a big brand named phone again
Aliexpress is a wholesale Chinese market that's MOSTLY populated by vendors COPYING Apple.
Apple does not sell on Aliexpress, they're not a vendor on that site.
There are nearly infinite ripoff/copy products on that site which don't perform to advertised spec.
BRS3000T is a piece of shit that wastes fuel. I have one and once I tested fuel weight with it, I will never use it again.
And because a FEW companies like nitecore are on there, doesn't mean the marketplace isn't MOSTLY loaded with garbage.
Also, with the exception of Bamboo and a few others, 99% of their printers and printer upgrades are total garbage. I've been printing since Printrbot Simple Metal was king.
edit: You should look up Foxconn, you have a lot to learn about the market.
eBay and Amazon are all full of the same products and companies so is every other online marketplace And you can buy the same shit in local shops Shopping anywhere online for a reasonable price is a minefield
I don't really shop there either, because yes, people are just ordering from aliexpress in bulk and selling on ebay and amazon.
This is why companies like REI have market share, so many people AVOIDING minefields of Chinese trash.
National Geographic has made a resurgence in South Korea. They wear those clothes like it’s North Face.
If you can't find the r value it probably doesn't have an r value...
It will probably have a r value of 1
Pairs perfectly with a Better Homes and Gardens sleeping bag
i'm sorry, but what is an R-value?
It’s an insulated value, higher number are better.
Common for building materials. Why does a sleeping pad have an R value? Because companies had no standards of testing. A couple years ago the switch to R value tests which is an ASTM(American society of Testing and Materials) standard.
Nerd time, R value is actually the thickness divided by thermal conductivity.
Thermal conductivity for something like steel has high conductivity, while house bulk insulation is significantly small.
Using R value reduces challenges when calculating with multiple materials, such as a wall. Because R value accounts for the thickness you can add R values up in series, and get total R-value of the wall. It also allows for easy comparison of how insulating certain products are.
An insulated value or a value that describes how well insulated a material or structure is?
The second, a value that describes how well a “thing” is at insulating
In my experience self inflating mats are heavier and more of a pita than other mats, because as you’re deflating it it’s constantly trying to inflate.
I have a friend who is an inflated Matt
I would not buy gear from Nat. Geo. Wouldn’t do it. They’re (unclear on whether they still are or just were) an organization that catalogues and discovers geographical and natural phenomena/wildlife. They aren’t experts in gear; they hire folks, likely outfitters, local guides, or other gear experts, to make their gear lists for outings. If they aren’t experts on what gear to bring with them, they definitely won’t be selling gear from a position of knowledge on the gear they’re selling.
Self-inflating mats 2 cm thick are typically good for summer use, just reaching a bit to the realm of three season use. No matter how dense the foam is, it's still quite thin for a self-inflating one.
Why? You can do far better, "self inflating" suck ass IMO, you can get a far thicker and lighter mat using an inflateable mat with a pump sack. Trekology UL80 with sack is about £55 / $70? and less than 1kg, and 4x thicker. Naturehike do an r5.5 or so baffled mat for £100ish, even thicker and comes with the pump sack too
probably worth 5-10 $
Klymit makes great sleeping mats that pack very small. It's what I use. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I suspect NatGeo products are not top of the line.

Zero “self-inflating” mats actually work to an acceptable degree. Even the Thermarest needs significant manual blowing afterwards.
1 kg is also super heavy.
I have a 4'' one for car camping, works perfectly
Frankly i don't think that you need to worry about R value that much unless you are planning to camp in winter. Winter meaning cold ground not necessarily snow ofc. I doubt this one will have R higher than 2 but that should be alright down to like 5 degrees C imo.
There are plenty of places that get below 32F (0C) during the summer, especially in the mountains.
it's summer in my hemisphere, and I just hiked up a mountain with snow on it. it was 36F at night 3,000 feet below that.
Ok and? It's a low of 28F where I'll be heading over to in a week. One case isn't all cases that was the whole point of the comment.
Yes I am aware of that, that's why I specified the temperature.
That's going to depend a lot on your location, your other gear, and your own body temps when sleeping. Personally I use an R5 in the summer.
Of course it comes down to personal preference. I'm talking about my experience. Of course you can use R5 in the summer, you're not gonna be too hot but it doesn't mean you need R5. I doubt OP is currently looking for an R5 mat.

The National Geographic when I was a kid was a valued organization that shared what the rest of the world was like with us.
Now it's rebranded aliexpress garbage.
Good job, Disney.
