Where can I find good curry ramen now that Menyatai has closed?

Hey Calgary,

I used to love getting curry ramen from Menyatai in Kensington, but sadly they’ve closed down. Does anyone know of any other places in Calgary that serve great curry ramen? I’m really missing it (especially when I am sick) and would appreciate any recommendations!

They did change it, apparently to remove beef (I'm assuming stock?) so it's halal.

Fuck. This is awful news, that was my favourite place and curry ramen/curry udon my favourite soup. Fuck.

edit: apparently not new news, I'm just so out of the loop. Cant afford to go out to eat as much, but Menyatai was still good value.

If you're looking for an easy fix. Nongshim ramen - shin red or black (red is cheaper). 2 ramen bags to 1 small can of coconut cream. Combine the water and cream and add the sauces, but also add a tbsp of medium curry (can find a small bag in majority of grocery stores).

Then add your vegetables if you want to add any (carrots etc). And add what ever meat/protein you want.

This sounds amazing for a quick at home meal.

Do you mean the 400ml cans of coconut milk or smaller? & do you still add the same amount of water it says on the packages or less because of the coconut cream?

I use the rooster coconut cream normally. Should be the 400ml can.

I recently made a 3 bag to 1 can and it turned out good as well.

I don’t know, but I do know Ramen Arashi will be opening in Kensington soon and gets good reviews at their other locations so something to look forward to.

Omg really? That's amazing. Truly I think Ramen Arashi in Canmore has the best ramen you can get outside of Japan, so I'm thrilled that they'll be opening in Calgary too.

Absolutely, there are plenty of good spots. Just that Arashi really gives me personally what I want out of a bowl of classic tonkotsu ramen
