What are walk-in clinics like there?. Here they are almost non existent except for if you are a patient of that particular clinic. The one that does exist is basically show up and get in line 2hrs before it opens if you hope to get in.
I’m from Newfoundland so I have our provincial MCP, I said I’d pay out of pocket because I figured private would be the quickest, easiest way
There's tons of them here to be honest. Some you can get into pretty easily if you show up anytime, others are more like what you describe
https://www.medicentres.com/clinic-locations-2/ is one of the chains, but not at all your only option. You can see their wait times there. Supposedly the NE Calgary location has a 15 min wait right at this moment.
They actually seem to have something that's what you need here: https://portal.healthmyself.net/medicentres#/
The "Fastrack Services" part specifically mentions dressing changes, and can be booked in advance for a specific date and time. Their Country Hills location (which is pretty close to the airport) has availability from tomorrow onwards
Medicenters are barely walkins anymore. They only accept walkins for a couple hours in the morning & afterward it’s appointments only.
You could call 811 for a recommendation
IIRC 811 requires you to give your AB health card info.
Could be wrong though.
You can call just for info
If it’s on a weekday, Santimed clinic is by Peter Lougheed hospital, about 20-25 mins from the Airport and they have an online wait list for walk-ins. You may have to pay out of pocket and then be reimbursed?
Do you have an Alberta health card?
I’m from Newfoundland so I have our provincial health card. I mean if it’s covered that’s fine but if paying out of pocket gets me in and out with the least amount of fuss I’d be happy to pay?
Out of province needs to go to a hospital, in my experience
It does not. Every province except Quebec has a reciprocal billing arrangement and you should be able to get medical services with your existing provincial coverage. Sometimes you'll find clinics don't know what to do with the out of province card, though.
I think there's a private type of walk-in at Calgary Airport. I'm not sure if it's still operational, but here is a link. Prime Care Health, Calgary Airport
Search for medical centres close to the airport and call around to set something up. Walk in will be very difficult.
There are two walk-ins in country hills (near the airport).
Call them and make an appt / talk with them....
If you are willing to pay privately, contact a private nurse company like this. See if they will meet you or you can meet them somewhere to get your wound redressed. https://www.comfortkeepers.ca/calgary/care-services/nursing-services/
Walk in clinic? Are you from out of country and that’s why you would need to pay out of pocket?
