(32) Looking for female friends in Brooklyn!

I feel like it’s so hard to make friends outside of work, especially as you get into your thirties.

I live in Williamsburg with my husband. I’m into walks, monopoly deal, thrifting, comedy, work outs, designing my home, cooking.

Could be cool to do a park day in McCarren? DM me if you’re interested!

Riis Beach Towing

Hey y’all! Just went to Riis Beach today and got towed from the parking lot. Apparently the park police is going in and towing vehicles for different reasons. Although, we were fully at fault (expired LP) we want to make people aware. Be careful of where you park when you go! The park staff at the parking station advised to fight the ticket if you get towed for parking on the lines since they haven’t been painted and the park police was supposed to do it. Anyways be aware and make sure all your documentation is updated and you make sure to park in an appropriate parking spot.

Coffee shops in Brooklyn with large communal tables and large windows?

I recently learned that the Brooklyn Roasting Company DUMBO location was permanently closed, and it was the perfect workspace that was spacious with great lighting and large wooden communal tables (pictured here). I'm honestly just trying to find a coffee shop to work at that can resemble this place in anyway.

TL;DR: Coffee shops in Brooklyn with large communal tables and great lighting?

Dumbo - where do single people hang out?

Hanging with my family who are in town and we’re in Dumbo but I have the evening free. What’s a good spot near Dumbo/Barclay to possibly run into some other single people (it feels like a lot of families here) 33F

Tell me you’re from Red Hook without telling me you’re from Red Hook

I did this with my brother’s and I’m trying to see if anyone has the same answers as us

Brooklyn driving school 18th ave

Last post was taken down by spam filter so I'll try again:

Hey guys,

Thinking of booking some driving lessons with Brooklyn Driving School on 18th av. Seems pretty cheap, $625 for 12 lessons, 5-hour-class and road test. Any bad experiences with this place? Who were the best teachers in your opinions?

Thanks

Unique Birthday Ideas for 21st Daytime Birthday that isn’t an escape room/museum

My best friend is turning 21 in June and I am planning a day for her to celebrate!

I feel like I’ve looked just about everywhere for ideas, especially unique ideas. I don’t want to take her to an escape room or a spa.

Some top contenders (but are closed the Tuesday of her birthday) are:

Sew your own lingerie class at The New York Sewing Center

KAKES Weed Infused Dinner

Hot tub around the Hudson

THC NYC Museum

Are there any other similar or unique ideas like this that we could do during the day?

TIA!

Anyone wanna play soccer tennis/ soccer volleyball/ footvolley/ teqball/ etc?

Basically anything that involves kicking a soccer ball over a net.

I'm 31m, open to playing with anyone who's down. Brooklyn Bridge Park beach volleyball courts would be an ideal place to play but I'm open to other suggestions!

Or if you know of any groups already doing this please let me know!

Reptile related activities?

Long story short, I’m trying to see about setting up a date based on their interests. Is there anything where we can see live reptiles and learn more about them locally or some type of exhibit? I think the Bronx zoo might be the best option based on this but if anyone has tips, please let me know.

Anyone trying to go to karaoke tonight?

Heyo, 34M who likes to go to karaoke at Cobra Club. Starts at 11. Don’t have any friends super up for it anymore (I get it) but I enjoy the vibe there and just find karaoke (performing and watching) very fun and interesting. I might end up just going alone, but throwing out a line in case there are any others in my boat who enjoy late night bushwick karaoke, but would prefer someone to go with. Feeling a bit spontaneous. Please don’t roast my post history. Thanks!

Best glute focused gym?

One with specialized hip thrust machines, hack squats, booty builder, abductions, etc.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the giant boiler taking up half the street on Court and Livingston?

I’ve been living in the area for over a year and there has been no changes regarding the giant on-street boiler that takes up a good chunk of court street.

Does anyone know why it is here and if anyone will ever get rid of it?

Best Hospital In Brooklyn?

Which one is your favorite? I just got out of the ER at Methodist Presbyterian in Park Slope in under 5 hours. Seems like a lot but the national average waiting times are 4-5 hours. I always liked Methodist and even more now that Presby merged in. Wondering if there is even a better hospital? Thanks!

Condo Building Porter / Super recommendation

Anyone have porter/super recommendations in the Brooklyn area? Currently live in Greenpoint and needing to change out our current super. Building Management hasn’t been entirely helpful in finding affordable options. I’ve heard some people note best to check who neighboring buildings use potentially.

Increased Traffic Since Memorial Day

I'venl noticed a significant increase in traffic since AFTER Memorial Day. For the rest of the week in Brooklyn and Queens I've noticed this. Would anyone have any insight on this? I find it suspiciously peculiar when we're at the cusp of the congestion tax to go into effect.
