Someone school me here…
I’m an intermediate fingerpicker, been playing for a couple years now, I guess more like 8. I typically play covers off tabs, so I do branch out a bit for genre.
I typically say I play bluegrass, but after joining this sub, and not recognizing a majority of the artists, I realize that’s maybe not the case.
What defines the genre of bluegrass music to you? Especially compared to blues and other comparable genres.
Where would you put artists like Mississippi John Hurt, John Fahey, Blaze Foley, JJ Cale, and Etta Baker? These are some of my favorite artists
