My gaming laptop (Acer Nitro 5) runs the game perfectly but the heat is a tad much. At least I can turn up the fan speed manually so I can replace the heating up with just loud ass fans instead.
Yeah the nitro series typically has good hardware for the price and a dog shit chassis.
I also play on a laptop, except I have an elaborately crafted setup to keep it from melting like chernobyl after act 1
I play on my MacBook pro, it runs fine and also no burns :shrug:

Yea I had to start using one of those lap desk things. If that's not around I put a book under it.
I thought gaming PCs were literally built for games like BG3. When I first played Early Access on my Mac I could literally have fried eggs on the underside. I stopped playing for a couple of months hoping patches and updates would stop the innards from becoming slag.
Not all gaming PCs are built equal. Even my beefy gaming rig churns up the heat under my desk and it gets toasty. But that happens with any high-game at high/ultra settings. As long as nothing crashes or explodes, it’s fine.
PCs with adequate cooling can be run at max load for hours and hours without issues. My CPU and GPU both max out around 75 Celsius. If I hold my hand behind the PC, there's a gust of what feels like slightly warm air.
Sadly, laptops don't have adequate cooling and they get seriously hot. It's not a game issue.
For me it's almost always games, but I'm not doing stuff like video editing so most of the time it's chill.
Oh I just mean that it's a hardware issue, not game issue. Laptops are simply packed so tight compared to a big desktop PC that there's not enough space for similarly effective cooling.
Oh my boyfriend- I love him so much- he bought me my first ever gaming pc. It’s ASUS and it’s a fucking BEAST of a computer and handles BG3 easily but DAMN it can get hot lmao, sounds like a jet engine

My husband and I have our computers both in one room. We have a window AC in the room to deal with the heat of our computers without having to up the AC in the rest of the house XD
Are you me and my husband 😂 We live in the American Deep South too so it’s hotter than Satan’s asshole even this time of year but thankfully our window unit in the home office (aka gaming room after work hours) is a trooper and keeps it comfortable enough and it’s cheaper than running the central.
My laptop runs it fine but I have to go on turbo mode for the fans and it sounds like a plane getting ready to lift off

I have a laptop pad with a pretty decent fan and it keeps it cool enough to play without too many bugs.
I accidentally left my PC on with 4K Ultra Ray Tracing BG3 while I was gone for the weekend. My PC case doesn't have a side panel so when I got back my apartment was 90° F and I had to let my AC run for two hours and went shopping while I waited for my apartment to become livable
How do you accidentally leave a game running for the weekend?
This is weirdly surprisingly easy to do accidentally. I’ve been playing for a bit and then been like “oh I’m gonna go shower and come back to this before I finish getting ready for whatever” and then forgot, got sidetracked, and come back the next day just chilling in the Myconid colony or whatever standing around. Never for a whole ass weekend but definitely overnight.
Won't happen to me because my computer is in the bedroom which is where I grab my stuff like keys before leaving, and I can see the screen from the door 😄

I play on one of those super thin MSI laptop, by all rights I would have heat issues but it stays fairly cold on a 35 bucks fan pad compared to most games
My laptop is on my desktop when I play BG3 because I could damn near roast marshmallows by sticking them near the exhaust panels.

I got me a lap table. It has adjustable legs and a USB fan on it. Also a little drawer on the side. And I use a trackball mouse 😅
