Tourist visa can only be transferred to a work visa by the sponsor of the tourist visa, with a fee of 250BD. But to do that, the sponsor of the tourist visa will need to have work visas that can be issued under the CR (highly unlikely). If the person lands a job while on tourist visa with any other company (not the sponsor of the vist visa), he/she will have to fly back to the home country and return with a valid work visa after the due proceedings medical tests ect.
Considering the current status of the job market, it is HIGHLY advisable not to come to Bahrain looking for jobs while on visit visa. It's a gamble & it doesn't work out for most people. Try to find the job while being in the home country and enter Bahrain with a valid work visa in hand to avoid the whole hassle of visa transfers.
