Threatened to send money with doxxing threats - can I report this?
VICYes, in Victoria to be precise. Any idea what the procedure will be like? I have already paid more than due for the cancellation but now they want weekly payments
Go into the station and ask if you can speak with an officer privately, perhaps a detective or another senior officer if one is available.
Explain to them exactly what you've told us. Expect that they'd probably like to look at the communication between you and this person.
They will likely also want to know exactly how much money you've sent the person.
I don't think they will but don't let them downplay it. Sex work is legal in Victoria so you have nothing to worry about yourself for reporting them.
Most police forces usual escalate extortion offences to CIB division (Or Equivalent) pretty quickly so there will normally be an investigation carried out where charges may be laid on the offender.
Extortion is considered to be one of the more serious offences in this category.
Thank you so much for your support, appreciate it
Yep def use the words extortion and blackmail w the cops..
If u get a bad one there’s a small chance they’ll say “civil matter coz to do w $$ for services” but that’s absolutely not the case - make them take a report. (Hopefully you won’t encounter this.. only small chance.. but it would be completely incorrect)
Thank you so much
I'd say if you do get that bad response ask for the LLO contact details (LGBTQIA+ Liason officer). They will likely work servicing a cluster of stations so will probably not be both on duty and at that station at the same time as you. They are typically quite good and have a lot of sway.
That's okay, if you need anything else don't hesitate to reach out.
Just wondering, what kind of consequences the extortioner might get? I'm worried they might harass me or my family in retaliation.
It really depends on the police and then the Department of Public Prosecutions to be honest with you.
Either way, that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do and would very likely land them jail time, if they don't get any in the first place.
You can seek a restraining / intervention order via VicPol so them even contacting yourself, family or posting things on the internet relating to you would be another offence.
Thank you, I'll be going to the nearby station first thing tomorrow to sort this out. Hopefully it all goes smoothly.
Sorry, final question: would I be able to deal with this on my own without having to involve my family in this as I don't want them to know and want to deal with the police myself.
Thank you again for all your help so far.
That's okay.
You can deal with this on your own provided you're over the age of 18.
You've also got the option of having another support person there that you trust, which doesn't necessarily have to be a family member.
Do you have any big mates? Biker friends? Go pay someone to scare them and tell them to keep away. No violence but a stern warning should keep them away.
Username checks out 😅
Just go down the the local cop shop and explain they will be able to help.
Police. If this guy is doing this to you, he is, and will, do it to others.
But then now I'm being coerced to send money weekly or else I'm being threatened I'd be ruined.
That seems like a really stupid thing for an easily-identifiable person to put in writing. I'm sure the police will be more than happy to charge them with an offence.
Right? This escort sucks at being criminal. They deserve to be charged for that alone.

Hey if u need support from a guy who took way to long to come out. Just DM me. It's difficult but also I guarantee you the relief will set you free but more importantly holding it off longer will burn your soul with regrets.
Goodluck ♥️
Hey thank you so much, I just sent you a DM.
"I just wanted to thank you for giving me the push I needed, I can't believe why I was even worried my friends and family don't mind one bit after I just told them."
I'm glad you had them to support you. Mine are a bit conservative and I just want to handle this without them having to know abt it :(
Lmfao that's what you tell the extortionist to take the power away from them
Oh haha thank you 😭 I hope I can do that...but I'm worried they'll follow through with it regardless
That's when you play the "hacker stole my card details" line to your parents. AKA being framed and blackmailed
Don't play games with em man. Just go to the cops asap.
Suppose the extortionist just posts anyway, at least now there is a backup plan to save grace with family and friends.
I don’t think he will tell your family he is obviously a spineless parasite but definitely tell the police don’t worry the rest will sort itself out
Thank you for your words, I'm in a lot of fear and anxiety rn but this helped.
This is textbook extortion. Definitely go to the Police
No advice (that others haven’t already told you) but just wanted to say best of luck, you are being extremely brave and you’ve got this!
Thank you, this means a lot to me.
Police take this very seriously.
My car was damaged and the way I described it fit the profile of extortion or coercion.
They came with a forensic wagon within 15 minutes ( unheard of) and pulled me aside to check I was okay
They ended up catching the bloke who was just on a bender after getting out of prison a few days earlier.
Got a victims of crime payout too.
Yeah report to police, you're literally being extorted, if they're getting away with it now, it will likely only get worse.
You can also take out an avo for stalking/harrassment which prevents them from contacting you or anyone you know or sharing anything about you online.
Omg I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's definitely a crime, and stop sending them money asap. Do you have anything in writing, like text messages where they say they are going to expose you if you don't keep sending them money? Hive the police as much physical evidence as possible, all records of all conversations and how much money you've sent. Hopefully they can do something about this.
Name and shame the extortionists

Is the escort based in Australia?
This is extortion and is very illegal. Don't send them any more money. People like this will always want more and more.
Report it to VicPol.
