My father died penniless and left 7 storage facilities full of literal junk spread 1300 kms between Sydney and Adelaide. The sum total of my inheritance from him consisted of whatever I could carry back with me to New Zealand on the plane, which included a few tools and a very NSFW Japanese erotic woodblock print from c. 1830, worth maybe a couple of hundred bucks.
Not me not much expensive more like weird, my friend his family was from Germany nice people , his grandfather died and let him have an art piece. One day we putting it up and back paper break and clear as day property of The Egyptian Museum. And next to that the German eagle with a swastika
We had it check and it was stolen in ww 2, the guys told us you have 3 choices
1: keep it
2: give it back
3: sell on the black market ( the guy will get a cut)
We gave it back but the museum give my friend some money for his troubles. So that was cool
Expensive is all in the eyes of the beholder. To me it’s my dad’s favorite shotgun. He died on my 18th birthday and gave me his bird gun on his death bed. To me it is priceless, I go grouse hunting every fall to this day with his gun.
My mom is 91, but just gifted me her silverware. I borrowed it for Thanksgiving and she insisted I keep it. I've tried several times to give it back to her. Not sure how that's going to fly with my sister and two brothers.
A bracelet and earrings, but they're only mine temporarily. A friend of mine gave them to me one night after an, even for him, especially long drinking bender. I tried to decline, but he was persistent & it's kind of pointless to argue with someone whose blood is 8% ABV at that point.
The bracelet is his daughters birthstones, and it gives him joy to see me wearing it. Otherwise, it'd be with the earrings. The earrings match but are too big for me to wear, so they're locked up at home. Logically, I know he won't be around long. He has no desire to change things, we've tried. I think he knows that too, and this is his way of ensuring that these are kept safe in the chaos of his life & that they get to their intended recipient.
Inherited my Dad's truck (2007 Silverado 2500HD Diesel). Apparently its a very popular model for enthusiasts as the engine can make crazy HP without a ton of modification, and it's got a transmission made by Allison than can handle tons of HP. It's apparently a less common color, some tinted silver and the paint is flawless. He also didn't drive it much, so it's got less than 90k miles despite being 16 years old.
I get guys at the fill-up station asking me if I want to sell it pretty regularly. Best offer was $25k cash, that was right before Covid. I don't drive it a ton, but when I need it it's nice to have, and I'd never be able to get something as capable for that amount of money.
My aunt Inherited land sharing with her sister that was in the uk and it was 3 large fields and a stables where horse ridding lessons used to take place
