# Rules

##### 1. Be Sound!

Have some manners, and be respectful! Harassment, hate speech, and other behaviours which violate Reddit’s content policy won’t be tolerated here.

##### 2. Google it First

Any questions that can easily be answered by a quick Google search, and similar low-effort posts do not belong here.

##### 3. Questions Must be Seeking an Answer

Posts submitted here must be aimed at the users of r/AskIreland, ensuring that they are transparent with no hidden agendas. Rants, musings, commentary and other similar posts which do not ask a clear and concise question will be removed.

##### 4. Misery

Lookit, we all love to complain - but there's a limit.

r/ireland is infamous as a den of relentless negativity and we're not allowing it here. Accounts that are trolling, consistently seeking drama, mocking or belittling other users will be banned from the sub.

##### 5. Not All Questions are Welcome

While many weird and wonderful questions can be asked here, there are some topics that are not entirely suited to this subreddit, and may be more suitable posts for elsewhere. These include (but are not limited to) global politics, personal medical advice, personal grievances and ongoing legal matters.

Moderators will exercise discretion around questions which do not fit the lore of the sub.

When it comes to enforcing the rules, leading to potential post removals or bans, mods have the say when it comes to defining the meanings of terms in these rules, as well as how and when they're applied.

Removals and bans may take into account the rule that was broken, how it was broken, and any past offenses.

##### 7. If in Doubt, Ask!

If you have any queries around a message you may have received from the mod team, please get in touch through modmail and we can clarify further if needed. Please do not create a post to query a removal or other mod decision. Only thing we ask, is to be sound and we will return the courtesy!
