Which profession is far less enjoyable than most people realize?
India & IndiansProfile pic checks out. Bulla
Rkhta h sab khulla.
That's true but that goes for the big companies from america. Small labels from european countries on other hand are very flexible with no demands whatsoever.
Are they hiring? Asking for a friend
fuck if I know lol.
Quite literally
Uske liye irado ke alawa aur bhi kuch bada hona chahiye.
so apparently, they just want male pornstars to do their thing while they record!
They hand them a script about positions and all but no hectic demands on the spots from directors.
ahan, sounds interesting
Somehow I come up with the worse answer for a question and that always comes on top in a reddit thread
The comment section here has listed out pretty much every profession, so that sums it up I guess.
Being jobless is the way it seems
No, having generational wealth + inheritance is the way 😂
Every job is fucking trash while working in 45°c
Even breathing is hard when it's too hot/cold
Tbh I can tolerate cold weather but hot weather makes me aggressive and depressed.
Hot weather to me means that nothing is getting done. Zilch. No office work, household chores, or any other work. Sometimes I hate eating also if it’s too hot. And I’m also at my worst. Irritated, angry, and with a headache or migraine. I truly hate the summers.
Ditto
I even hate bathing too since you are gonna feel more heat the moment you leave the bathroom.
Same. Heat triggers my migraines.
Ohoho I despise the heat! I’d rather go shirtless in Antarctica. I’m a sweaty guy with long hair. This makes it worse. Head itching all the time and hence forcing myself to shampoo everyday.
opposite for me
i get so many sneezes in cold then everyone knows me for them man
💯☝🏽
Doctor - Very taxing and not as lucrative as people think
I never heard anyone say Doctors job is "Enjoyable"
MY family: doubt
Lawyers too.... Especially when first gen.
Elaborate please
Lesser connections when you're a first gen lawyer. With how things work in India it's significantly more difficult to get your work done in that case
Gaining trust of client, uneven working hours, losing clients for absolute no fault of yours, abusive senior, small mistake big repercussions.... From building network to getting a decent pay. I can go all day long bro....
Add the increasing age, family expectations, your own friends earning significantly more with half there time invested in their work.
Please do , I am a first gen lawyer student
Doctor with what qualifications?
Any.
Surgeons in some hospitals make lakhs per day. I think it depends. A general doctor in a village won't be making that much. Taxes can't be it. Especially in India.
Bhai by taxing he meant "hard work", "tiring" not taxes.
gujju spotted
To reach lakhs per day level of competency, that surgeon must have trained for decades.
Which surgeons, how many years of experience, does their father own a stake in the hospital or a doctor themselves (if young), how much of the "cut" is actually going to the surgeon (private hospitals take up a good chunk of all that money that you're paying for the surgery), etc etc
My dad is a ped CTVS surgeon. It is taxing, sometimes rewarding, often draining, and we're comfortable now, but it has taken him a fuckton of years. Operating on kids' hearts is a different ballgame altogether. He gets more brickbats than any sort of gratitude because it is a fucking difficult field and often kids don't do well despite a good surgery. *And* he is perhaps the most intelligent person I know, but that is how the cookie crumbles I guess
Surgeons making "lakhs per day" is such a blanket term. Their might be very few surgeon who could make that, who works in top tier corporate hospital. If a single surgeon makes lakhs per day then the hospital should have make > 30-50crs per month and u can think how many hospital there might make this much turnover or if he owns the hospital he can earn that much with lesser turnout but then he a businessman more than a mere surgeon.
Pretty much most, Because when you start working for money the enjoyment goes way down.
What do you do ?
For now. Nothing
DOCTOR
Being a doctor & surviving as one is far less enjoyable.
Ppl don't know the struggle behind
I know. My mother is one. So i can see some of the struggle and problems but its hard to imagine it. Very respect for doctors
+1
Designers. People think do chaar sketches Karo and khatam. It's a lot more crying and working under pressure to make things that sell
I was just going to comment this... people think we just draw and paint and have a gala time. But it's so, so much more
Relatable af
Good designers*
Nowadays designer just slightly shift lines on logo or pass on jethalaal's GPL jersey as national jersey.
Which doesn't take any time and brain power
It's sad but I think I can empathise. There's probably some barely paid no sleep graphic design intern behind that logo. What can I say? Designing and designing creatively takes time and most companies want results that sell like hot cakes and sell fast
Lawyers and Investment Bankers. The grind is fucking real
Yup, can confirm for corporate lawyers :')
Please tell me the pay is good 😭
With how things are panning out, I might just have to work my Plan C ( C stands for Come-on-you-lazy-ass-you-need-to-buy-food-to-survive)
Pays are good if you end up at Tier - 2 / Tier -1 firm. Relax. If you like the area, you'll do good. Don't fuck that up.
Yup 😭
+1, i have a friend who is a corporate lawyer for a Mumbai based firm... The poor sod gets work calls while he is on vacation back here in Bangalore.
I guess corporate. My friend's parents are in corporate and he hates their work life.
Atleast 50% of corporate assure work life balance. Creatives fields have no time constraints
Creatives have time constraints. check crunch time in game development
Bro hasn't heard about japanese animators that create anime
Dude what you talking about, I'm a copywriter and the deadline are crazy.
Wdym?
🤑🤑
depends on the people in upper management. R&D and engineering can be really interesting if not for managers hanging on your neck and stupid coworkers.
And here i am wanting to work in a corporate. Bro, life outside the cubicle is a lot more harsh. People crying over emails will never realise this
Gigolo.. Bull..
Professional ones know that it is exhausting. All the wannabes and desperates think it is fun and leave disappointed clients. Then it is really difficult for the real ones to heal that bad experience.
What's a gigolo?
Piccolo ka bhai
Watch Desi Boyz film.. you'll understand
Spanish mei "Google" ko bolte hai. 😇😏
Industry (mining and metals) is so exhausting, and you have no other option to continue as there are people willing to do your work for half the pay so it gets real competitive. Also the safety risk and health hazards.
Losing fingers is so common that I have become desensitized in case of such incidents.
I know plenty of people with less than 10 fingers. We do have a lucky bastard with 11 fingers tho lol
Running a restaurant ... It's not about cooking food or making new recipes
It's about buying sabzi, shouting at staff and doing lots of accounting
Reminded me of Anthony Bourdain's memoir, Kitchen Confidential.
I've already watched 'The Bear'
Almost every job because the grass always seems greener on the other side. We only get to see the perks(money, fame etc) but not the stress, depression, anxiety, impact on personal relations, mental health etc.
Think movie stars, investment bankers, politicians, gigolos, pilots, army folks... The list is endless.
Architects working for architectural projects.
Came here to find this. Will leave now.
Ahh!! Two years ago i found your website very helpful for sorting and shortlisting through the heap of gaming laptop models. A few months later I wanted to suggest it to my friend, but I went blank and couldn’t recollect your site’s name, until now. Cheers! Keep up the good work.
Professor. You want to learn and engage with students who are also there to learn but all they do is chutiyapa
agree, I've known tons of bad teachers but once in a while there are good teachers like my business studies teacher, she's pretty young and does her best to understand students, explains business concepts even if they go out of syllabus, and is honestly the best you can ask for, but everybody just talks among themselves in her class and nobody gives a shit neither do they take notes, it just feels plain disrespectful, there's 2 people answering in her class at most
Yeah you never live the fantasy of "Working with the students to achieve/invent something new that the whole team is proud of"
Doctor????
Working as a creative in advertising. Specially if you work in big international ad agencies
Marketing. Fucking tiring, man!
Lawyers... It's not as fancy as it looks. So much struggle, so much taking shit from others.. it becomes really depressing at times. Especially when you are 1st gen lawyer and see legacy holders doing far better than you with less than half the effort as yours.
And not to mention the reading... so much reading man... Sometimes I feel like gouging my eyes out just for escaping it.
anything when done for money as the sole criterion
Doctorrrrrr, I'm one n o know thissss, life sucks , full of struggles
Doctor. Only title no money.
this is so true, one of my friend's both parents are doctors and they swore to never let her get into the profession because it's 1) mad competitive, 2) the working hours are crazy, 3) the treatment of doctors during covid just scarred them overall, they didn't wanna put their daughter through what they suffered
Cow milker
ok, i need elaboration.
Lawers and doctors
Farming. Since statistically they are the ones committing most number of suicides.
They are landless farmers
Baaki farmers mea dunia bhar ka Paisa hota hai
Aayein Jo bin mausam barish ho rhi isse profit chhodo investment bhi nhi mil rhi
Barish hamesha nahi ho rhi aur zameeno ke da etne badh chuke hai ki vo log ameer hie ho gye hai ak do income band hone se Marne ki halat nahi hogi
Ek do income are bhai 6 month me ek crop aata hai or jaha pe paani nhi hai waha pe sirf baarish ke upar farming hoti hai matlab 1sal me ek baar aur jameen bech denge to karenge kya
Human trafficking, not very enjoyable
Tell me about it, can't seem to shake off Interpol of my back for a few deliveries to Epstein Island............
I don't deliver kids, I have some morals
What kids?? I deliver pizza for pizza hut.
Doctor. People think we sit around all day minting money but it’s far from the truth. A doctor’s life expectancy is way lower than their patients and it’s due to daily work stress and burden of expectations from all directions.
Let me give you an example… when a fresh doctor sits with me in my opd, initially they are very enthusiastic about seeing patients and guiding them. Gradually the sheer number of patients and workload makes this stop and they go in reverse direction and put zero effort and are very rude to patients. I see this in young doctors all the time. They get tired and helpless and want to run away from it all.
In such scenarios it’s the job is seniors to guide them gently and make them understand that such is our life now and they can’t be rude to patients no matter what they are facing personally or professionally.
It’s a hard life, especially so for government doctors who just face brickbats from higher ups and patients both
No wonder young graduates are living for UK after clearing PLAB
Every. Job. Ever.
Software engineer. I see some of my friends who are in govt jobs getting rejected in AM proposals coz women want software guys. If only they knew how much ass fucking we take everyday 😐
Buy some lube with the fuckton of money software engineers make and carry on. It beats struggling to make money in most other professions nowadays. ( I'm kidding but you get the point )
Farming, the worst part of farming is that you have to work in Summers

Police. People think they just enjoy their uniform whereas they take more abuse from state than anyone realises.
IB, people are just chasing the High pay package and what they see from the Grass is greener on the other side.
I think if you talk of India specifically with no work life balance, all jobs are less enjoyable. Even being a politician is hectic. Even business can be tiring if you are medium and small entrepreneur. Because most of us work solely for money. There is no pleasure whatsoever.
Regards Jobless redditor
Working as an independent contractor for the government. They think they can fuck you every which way because they have power and are paying your fee. And they do it with obvious pleasure. Even if they know jackshit about the work itself.
Whichever doesn't give you enough money , people will do anything with a smile if enough money is paid
Medicine/being a doctor
IT
But IT gives a lot of money
Only few get good salary
I don't see data science yet....we have hope
It's not the jobs It's the work hours and work pressure people are literally die because of this 🙃
Actors, mostly entertainment industry.
Anything to do with showbiz, I'd think.
Field work under 40c road heat
Mbb consultant...One of my Known (Batchmate from school) is working in Big 3 Firm, He was in Mumbai before transfering to London office...We were talking about his life and he said He regrets joining this Firm...damn long hrs No personal life...He feared those phone ping now
Cinema

Filmmaking. It gives you a high when you pull off those great moments or when the film makes sense at the end of the day, but the production work can be brutal. Work sometimes means back to back 20 hour shifts. Screenwriting too can be as much of a horror as it’s fun.
Youtube! Your social life is fucked (specially for struggling small youtubers), ruins sleep cycle (obviously not everyones but most of them), stress like any other profession, bad health and diet, feeling of failure, and so on. These all things are what I've experienced and currently facing as a small youtuber who makes gaming content.
Any kind of creative work, which requires you to come up with new ideas daily, from scratch, within a time limit, meeting all requirements and obviously budget friendly 🥲
Most professions
Edging
Being a chef/baker. It's all glamour on masterchef, but no one tells you about the 18 hour days on your feet, and absolutely no one tells you that cleaning up is 60% of your job. Plus the stress of hangry customers!
Airline pilot
In house dj.
Game tester
Teaching.
Any Customer service job in India (my experience in Airport), fuck customers every single one of them.
Journalism
The one you don’t like and still you have to do
less enjoyable than most people realizez?
G
Lawyers. You've always got to prepare a report. Read, read and read. Once you're tired and want to throw it all away, you read some more. When that's done then you draft what you've read but you will have to make sure you've written correctly what you've read so you read again. It's like you've got school projects all the time but with insufferable amount of data and immediate deadlines. And the second you get a hang of it, they will change the bloody law.
Game testing.. i hear
Pilot
Corporate law
Consulting 🤡
Architect for sure.
Engineer, software dev etc. Hard to enjoy if no passion in coding like me
IT Consulting.
I am a college student , my worst fear is that becoming a corporate slave in future
What else can one do
Bhar jaake slave banna
Daily wage labourer
Umm... I don't think anybody thinks this as an "enjoyable profession".
Sales, Rollercoaster
Artist.
Being an entrepreneur!
I wanna say Acting
Masseurs, Parlor staff
Software Developer
Crazy thing is I’m seeing everyone say Doctors and Surgeons and whatnot, I’ll tell you being an architect is the shittiest profession one can take and invest their life on and it’s not even close, I’ll fight.
Anything that involves corporate, clients, fucked up work-life balance etc.
I am in the 3D industry, what I loved doing in college or for my portfolio is something I hate doing it in a studio for someone else everyday 10+hrs.
People who are running to become a Product Manager. It's not glamourous, not that enjoyable. The prospect seems enjoyable, but on field reality is completely different. Very rarely will you be building or making revolutionary product changes.
Singer/Music Industry. Kya pataa kab luck khulega
Soldiers
UX Designer
No profession is enjoyable per se. If you are working for someone then you are doing it for money and there is always pressure to perform.
In India matters are considerably worse because a lot of firms are run by families and they are usually great at considering employees as slaves.
The happiest thing is to work for your own self doing your own thing.
Any profession once you get deep enough into it! It’s more about the professional world itself and how it works.
It’s a morally & ethically bankrupt way of thinking, which has permeated to the entire world, originating from the traders & merchants of colonial countries during the Middle Ages.
IT jobs . It's kinda depressing
online content moderator that works for Instagram and porn sites I was informed that sometimes they have to see thing that a normal person never want to see as well it gives them nightmare and the pay is not even that good
It's not Job that's the problem, it's the pressure that comes with it.
I think this commentis section is filled up with the various the various jobs. 😂😂😂
As per my knowledge
- event planning
- veterinary medicine
- restaurant ownership
- journalism
Because of high stress and pressure, long hours and irregular schedules, and dealing with difficult situations and people
Male pornstar.
A typical shoot for a porn movie can last several hours, and the male has to sustain an erection for very long periods, while dealing with the director's technical instructions on and off. They are on crazy levels of performance enhancers while doing such stuff.
