Hi, I’m thinking of replacing these lights in our finished attic. Home built 1949 and I’m guessing attic finished in 1965-1970. They’re cool, but not in the best condition, mostly they hang super low considering the ceiling height (only abt 6.5 ft). I was wondering if anyone has come across these before and had to replace them? If so, what’d you replace with and how? Are there any other options that might look less bland than recessed can lights, or is that my best option? Also open to restoring these somehow, but not quite sure how. The exterior housing is some kind of ceramic/plastic. The fixture pulls down from the ceiling from a hinge attached via tension to the housing. The label says “Pryne Company”
Pretty sure the jbox is attached to the stud inside the ceiling…the housing is 9x9, the cap is 1” deep, so the whole fixture size about 10x10x1.
