I almost sat on a HUGE spider in my car today and ended up losing it trying to get it out. I am now worried ol mate will come out to say hi whilst I'm driving and I'll end up having an accident.
I live in a apartment block with a underground car park so this might work might work.
I did just check my car and there was a huge huntsman on the roof above my door. Not sure if the same one as earlier today.
I did unload a full can of spray into the car a couple of hours ago, I do hope its the same one.
Not to alarm you but I’ve sprayed a huntsman point blank for about 4-5 seconds and it came back the next night like it didn’t happen. I ended up naming it and letting it share my room on the condition it stayed on the other side away from my bed.
Yeop, if your not careful they'll actually get bigger.
they lay eggs in your nose while you sleep too...
I would just torch the car and get a new one.
I’ve done it. Follow directions and after you are done, leave windows open for as long as you can. Vacuum and wipe down inside. Worked for me
I'm assuming you had all doors closed and windows up? After a few hours open up and air the car out?
My biggest concern was the instructions saying "Do not use in spaces of volume smaller than 5 cubic metres". Not sure how many cubic mtrs a twin cab would be
Just FYI in case you have a cat, bug bombs are actually pretty poisonous to cats! If you have one you would wanna be sure that all traces of the poison were gone before before letting kitty in your vehicle
Just realised I replied to a person instead of commenting on the entire thread, sorry about that my comment was meant for OP
Yeah I would definitely need to be very careful if I do go through with this.
Yep! You could also use a vacuum after to help get rid of any residue left over. I was forced to see how it goes with the bug bomb in the car because I had seen my last spider appearance while driving. Just prepare to tidy up afterwords and hopefully air out your car for at least 6-8 hours ish, if not longer depending. I had no issues I ran into and that’s rare for me so I think you are good lol
Just give it a spray inside with some bug spray, bug bomb is over the top for such a small space
You say that but me spraying my interior is not going to make these mfs go away
If the spider is still in your car 3 years later, It's the spiders car now. Give up
I don’t have a spider, I’m not op, I was just looking around for advice on bombing my car
Get residual barrier spray, I use Fury180. Spray door tracks, floor wells and door pillars where spiders might enter and move. They’ll contact it and die, works for months. I use it around the house entries and get big centipedes (cause NT) regularly dead about 1m from the doors. If they don’t make it far a poor huntsman won’t that’s for sure.
It's hiding under the sun visor 😂
Ive bombed my car a few times. I lived in a rental that was infested with cockroaches when I moved in. When that place for sprayed they decided to move into my car. Just cover the roof with a sheet so it doesn't stain the roof lining and air it to it for an hour or so afterwards. I used the windows to keep it in place. Use the black Moretein cans, it's safe for humans and animals so no need to wipe the surfaces down after. The car will also have a slight scent left over for a couple of days, nothing an air freshener won't fix.
If it's just a Huntsman, leave him alone, he won't hurt you.
I'd recommend against if you have a new car full of electronics, might be fine in the short term, but long term it could eat the insulation off your wiring and destroy the electrical systems.
Yeah my initial thought was to try and just leave it however I almost lost my shit today when I thought something touched my leg (driving home after discovering spidey). I would much rather 1 dead spider over me potentially having an accident and hurting someone.
True, but unknown chemicals in your car with God knows what they do with the wiring in your car, especially if it's a car built since 2000 when basically everything started to become computer controlled.
You could end up faulting out the car and best case, something doesn't work, worst case it takes out your brake lights and you get arse ended, or screws with the BCM and your ABS faults and you could lose control, or it locks you in the car (funny, but not at the same time) or faults the immobiliser leaving you stranded.
Or something you don't use very often, your wipers. We got rain today at 147.4mm/h, it was absolutely bucketing down. Here's a video
Imagine if you were driving along and THAT hits, and you find out your wipers don't work?
That rain reminds me of when I lived in Darwin. Damn that rain was so heavy your wind screen wipers were useless yet somehow people still managed to drive at 100km +.
I have already unloaded a full can of spray into the car as more of a reaction with out thinking it through. Hopefully I haven't damaged my car long term
That shouldn't, as it's nowhere near as potent as other stuff.
My wife was just saying an exterminator should have a way to bomb the car that should work and not damage it.
And if it does damage it, it's on them to pay for.
If it's just a huntsman and they can't just leave it alone then the only solution is the final solution. Torch the car and buy a new one. Wait. That won't work either. A bit of smoke might flush it out of the car though.
Well, the chemical corrosion on wiring will be less of an issue that way
I feel like a bug bomb shouldn't be strong enough to corrode car wiring if that was the case the entire inside of the car would crumble to dust first seeing as copper is a bit stronger than fabric, rubber, and plastic
A good spray through with normal bug spray should do the trick. When you’ve got this one sorted, give your car a good wash and let it dry. Once it’s fully dry, use some household perimeter insect repellent to go over the car and it should keep anything at bay for a good 6 months (or whatever’s on the label).
When I was a young filthy teen I did. So many cockroaches came out the vents. Shit was fucked.
Honestly just set the car on fire at this point.
Surface spray for crawlers
It will most probably just be a huntsman spider.
They are placid, non aggressive, friendly spiders. It won't bite you unless you do accidentally crush it, even then often not, ive crushed them before accidentally and not got bit (hands/bare skin), IDK why not. Don't try to grab ahold of it or trap it with your hands, obviously. But you can coax it out/off of you, or even onto you to try to remove it from the car, though they do avoid climbing on you if they can.
They are huge scary looking fuckers, but big softies at heart.
You likely already know all this but still just want the fucker gone, it saddens me to hear you have chosen execution, but do what you must.
Yeah, no doubt it's more scarred of me than what I am of it. My biggest concern is I will freak out whilst driving and could have a accident.
Yes, did it in one of our old work vehicles to get rid of cockroaches.
Success?
Surprisingly yes. We did it over a weekend, had the car closed up for a day and the next morning was spent giving the interior a good clean.
One spark and you could have a burnt out car. Bombs are flammable FFS.
Redbacks or funnelwebs one thing. Huntsman don't hurt.
Just hit that cunt with a thong
Bash it with a thong
A mate did it in his garage instead with a car in it
