What's your favorite song from the game? (Potential spoilers)
SpoilerHuge agree! I was so caught off guard coming back to the castle. Like "oh that shifted quick. 👀 Wtf happened here?!" It really does a good job stressing shit hit the fan especially with the change to grey tones everywhere too. Definitely in the top 5 on this!
100%
I have no idea what it's called or where it's played but there is one section with a slow piano version of "Crab Rave", that's like a fusion of "Crab Rave" and the Boss theme for Soul of Cinder form DS3. I just call it "Plin-plon-plin Crab Rave" and I love it.
I remember that!!! It happened very late game for me too! Like I think just after you jump into the toilet after beating the King in the old ocean. When I clicked to what it was I was like "what a min... Why is this familiar? Oooohhhh!" They call it "Crab Grave" in the soundtrack.
This is mine. It’s doing exactly that! Soul of Cinder was meant to hit us in the nostalgia and what better way with Crab?
Crab Grave from the very end of the game.
There's something weirdly poignant about that piece even though it's basically a slowed down, piano version of the Crab Rave meme song.
It stopped me in my tracks hearing it for the first time.
The moment the melody kicked in it had me beaming, but then it slowly sinks in that you're surrounded by a bunch of crab corpses.
Not to even mention the state of our real life ocean, which is basically the theme of the final section of the game.
Maybe it's not meant to be thought about that deeply, but I really enjoyed it.
Hell yeah someone else just said the same thing. But you're right though. It made me smile when I realized what it was but then when I realized the state of affairs that everything was in at that point, it really started to hit differently. I really think they did a great job letting the music have a voice throughout the whole game. As if the themes already weren't enough visibly.
Getting to the ancient city hit me so hard since I hadn’t thought about what an Anor Londo would look like in this context. Bleached reefs were a perfect comparison.
Polluted Platoon Pathfinder GOES HARD EVERY TIME
Hell to the yeah!!!! With that character design too. Freaking chef's kiss!!! Definitely got my blood pumping. Especially when I was just waddling over to him thinking I could just talk to the guy.
I really enjoy Expired Grove, it feels like souls mixed with a touch of zelda. Very plucky stringy. Also Crab Grave like everyone else has mentioned. Really just an outstanding OST, it’s definitely got some tracks going into my Game Jam playlist
You and me both! I didn't really appreciate Expired Grove until I was just hardcore searching for the crystals but when I actually started listening I heard that plucky string solo right before the loop and was caught off guard. Needless to say the rest of the search was less frustration and more bliss because of the music.
What a dreamy description of your experience! It’s such a pleasure to donk around in the game, I definitely took my time exploring so I could take in that sweet sweet music.
You and me both. The music really follows the themes of the game so well. Definitely adding some to my playlists!
Roland, Petroch, and The Consortium's Battle Themes are amazing
Ahhh the consortium... Yeeeaahhh I don't remember much about the song because I honestly was panicking that whole fight xD. It was so chaotic but I do remember the "abomination-horror" vibes. Really fitting considering the boss.
I think it's the 2nd song in the game to have lyrics. If you call it lyrics
I mean whoever is doing that is hitting those vocals so I'd call it lyrics lol. Plus I dunno that really high pitched scream sound could be the monster(s) screaming themselves. Just a culmination of all their trapped voices taking part in the song along with whoever was singing.
I'm sad cus I loved the boss. And I don't wanna start a whole other save just to fight it again cus bosses can't respawn and they don't have a respawn thing yet
Here's hoping that patch that in cause I could go for a ravenous pagurus fight again anyway.
I thought of an idea.
Nautilus Pedestals
You buy Nautilus Shells from The Prawn Shop (Infinitely, Not Cheap, Not Expensive, So Maybe 10k MP)
Near The Boss Areas Are Pedestals, If You Have A Nautilus Shell, You Can Use It To Restart The Boss Fight.
Genius but I'd up the price because of how easy it is to get MP. Especially late game. But!!! Offer a reward if you can beat them a second time with slightly added difficulty. Like a 4th lvl for the claw spell you get for beating the selfish duchess.
I really like the polluted platoon pathfinder/ the royal shellsplitter
Oh hell yeah! I honestly forgot about this because it was attached to the shellsplitter and I kept fighting him till I won very early in the game 😠still the way you can hear the sound of a knife in the music too is peak. The subtle "shwing!" That sneaks into the chaotic theme for a hard battle is siiiiiick.
For whatever reason, I've gravitated towards Camtscha, the Bleached King, of all things. Couldn't explain why for the life of me.
Now that's an interesting take. I honestly was too strong to really listen. I used the octopus arm and smacked him nonstop with a hammer. Was over before I knew it. But listening on YouTube the first phase music is actually decent. Second phase is... Cool too even if I can't find the rhythm well. Nice for a "final" boss or so I thought.
A song that I’m desperately trying to find with no luck on YouTube is the soundtrack that plays when you find the disco ball in the sands between next to the cassette player.
That shiz is a bop
Edit: unfortunately the crabs don’t respawn to show off their moves and the music plays over the soundtrack for the sands between so even if I park my happy shell there I can’t listen to it in it’s full glory :c sad hermit crab noises
Edit 2: just realized OP is also talking about the disco ball soundtrack lol… hydration and sleep is currently required
I knoooowwwww!!!! I wish this one was on the soundtrack too. Guess I'll have to keep going over there to listen in game. I really wished the crabs respawned too. But hey at least that crab that complained about the noise put it back on lol.
Yea. Tho I just made a separate file and speed ran to the area with the assist mode so I don’t have to keep running bk to it on my main file to listen to it and obviously let the group of crabs live to turn up till the end of time lol
The Mess I Made
Oh yeeeaahhh! Here we go! I'm glad I'm not the only person that clocked this gem during the end credits. I loved the wrap up of the game and this was a great song to bring it to a close. Quality pick!
I don’t know the name of it but the one where you’re climbing the electric tower is such a banger
Most definitely! I found a new appreciation for that one recently. It's definitely been on repeat because it's such a good "time to get serious" song so it goes well for me when I'm working haha. Plus I love that you can kinda hear the sounds you'd hear in the tower through the song too. It's called "Scuttleport" on the soundtrack. It's really badass! Good pick
The Consortium boss theme just is incredibly satisfying to listen to. Helps that it's my favorite boss design-wise.
Plus, it heavily references (of all things) one of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition -- The Hut on Fowl Legs! Weirdly appropriate, lol
My favorite is Slacktide Castle? 100%. The guitar strumming at the 2 min mark after that one scream is just the best. I felt like insanely urgent with that ost playing and i listen to it often
