Honestly thought the cat was going to pounce and try to get a second helping of human in that moment. Then it’s just like “Bah I can’t be bothered.”
“You tasted like crap anyways”

You eat shit for breakfast?!?
It's a hobby
...... NO
That was cat speak for: why you’re not tender? My teeth hurt
"What?! ... What are you gonna do? Gonna hit me? At least then I can get you to show me some kind of emotion Sharon! You never show me anything anymore.. "
Are you ok, birdy? Is Sharon your handler?
"I could've killed you and no one would have known"
"I could've killed you and no one would have known"
She doesn't even know how lucky she is...
She outcatted the cat with those eyes.
Lucky she has her safety glasses on, Straight face maul was on its way 🤣
Usually when my cat does this he’s signaling that he needs food or wants attention
My best friend's cat bites toes at night, when he wants wet food. 😄 this is the lil' bugger. https://imgur.com/a/DSH6AIg
We have two cats; when the black one wants food he will gently chew on my forearm while purring his brains out and occasionally looking at you and making a noise that I can only describe as a cat scream-meow.
The white one is so stupid that it took her about two years to figure out she can ask for food at all, and she's still not really sure how it all works. We love them both.
My outdoor cat (no, we didn't adopt one and put her out; she was a stray and decided she belonged here) does love bites while I pet her. She is spayed and has her shots, and doesn't break the skin anyway. She also waits until she get her pets before she will eat.
Mine does the exact same thing! Lovely little critters
There’s something called affection eaters. Basically eating makes a cat vulnerable, so she feels safe around you and thusly likes to eat while you’re guarding her!
She is pretty skittish. But she's a total sweetheart.
They are both amazing and I love them.
Awww hahaha, that's adorable!
Well apparently he likes you enough to not want you to leave
Hahah yes. He stood like that for 15 min. He loves plastic, so he tried to claim my suitcase.
Toes and plastic. The ultimate combo meal
Just make plastic toe covers for sleeping
You want your toes munched away by that cat, do you.
Growing up we had a black cat like this that sat on the most random things too, but only if the item was black or grey.
or the cat is going on vacation
I used have a cat that would like to suck on fingers or toes. She had plenty of food and water but she was separated from her mom a little early and was never properly weened. She was super fluffy and loved to sleep with people but you would have to tuck in all of your toes and fingers or she would go after them randomly while you were sleeping.
We had that too! We got two at the same time and he would suck on his sisters toes, and one time in the middle of the night started sucking on my arm. Good grief it scared me lol
My cat from when Inwas a teenager wouldn't sleep at night unless it was on my neck. Or my mom's.
My cats drops their cat toys on me at night, they want me to play with them when I am sleeping. They often bring them to me when I am home and I play with them.
Many people think cats are nocturnal but actually they’re crepuscular which means most active at dawn and dusk, which is why our furry friends get the zoomies just before dawn when you’re trying to sleep, and at night when you’re trying to relax before bed lol

Mine scales the side of the doorframe like some Olympic medalist and while at the top like Mario does a signature sound similar to a “Nouw”, then bolt. I will never understand cats
Rex sometimes brings his toys to our bed if he wants to play fetch.
Back when I lived with my mom, one of ours would bring her little toy mouse onto my bed and put it beside me on the pillow every morning. She was the damn sweetest. I still have that little toy mouse.
My ex's cat did that to me once; woke up in such a panic I accidentally kicked the cat into the ceiling.
Didn't bite my toes anymore
DEECENT
Mine does that to be a jackass when I’m getting ready for work. He wants me to play but it’s always when I’m getting ready for work.
Trying to distract you to keep you from leaving. I learned all about this while dog sitting for a friend. I can only imagine the chaos if the cats and dogs figure out they should work together on their issue.
He is so inky
I have a tiny black kitty too! I love when her little ears go back. So very threatening.
She looks like him.
Airplane eaaars! Yesss, he makes those too, and then you know it's play time!
Oh damn, my cat looks exactly like him and does the same thing when he is hungry. I have to hide my feet under the cover lol. They might have been brothers in a previous life.
You are going nowhere hooman. You must stay here and feed me!
I wish I could! It was always easy to catsit for him, he's adorable as fuck!
He's coming for your toe beans
My 20 year old cat, whos always been crazy nice, has been full on attacking my arm lately if i dont pet him, or if i pet him too much. Any idea why its happening? Its pretty scary and i dont feel comfortable petting him sometimes because he actually goes psycho on my arm and is fine 2 seconds later
Your cat might be in pain from arthritis. I'd get him looked at by a veterinarian to make sure he's medically ok.
I can vouch for this. My older car does the same and it's due to a failing kidney.
I think it's a soothing thing. Possibly for support or something.
I second-second this. Especially if your cat is 20 years old.
Watch his body language. He will probably flatten his ears or switch his tail before he attacks.
Cats can absolutely have personality changes as they get older. You might take him in for an xray to see if he has arthritis. At 20 he probably does. Get some blood work too. That can tell you if there are underlying medical conditions. A cat is geriatric at 11, although many stay "young" well past that age.
If you notice other changes, such as yowling in a corner by himself, he may have a bit of dementia. In that case, ask your vet if your cat could use something to calm him, such as Feliway.
I had an indoor cat who lived to be 19. She went deaf when she was about 15 but adjusted well to watching for signals from me. She still ran and played like a kitten until she went blind and couldn't do that anymore.
All good replies I just wanted to add another possibility. As cats age they stop taking care of themselves so it's possible he may have mats that are either pulling at his skin or could pull just enough to create an injury and/or infection.
You could also practice your own version of "yelping in pain". Kitties view us as big dumb bald cats so your boy may not realize he's hurting you. Next time he goes crazy you could try a high pitch yelp and see if he stops? I'm curious about what his body language would say but your doctor would also help you decipher it.
Best of luck! I hope this isn't anything serious but a vet should help you rule out those possibilities.
I hope you find out what’s wrong with your kitty
The other replies were pretty good, do follow those.
My two cents are your cat is going senile. Or, there may be something else in the brain that is not right and it's affecting his mannerisms.
Friends of mine had a old, senile cat with a brain tumor.. he reached a stage where he could no longer recognize his owners at all and would attack them as though he was feral with rabies.. They had him euthanised shortly after.
Both my boys do this too. One goes for the toes in the morning, or if you got bare feet. The other goes for any other part of the body that's exposed.
I think they've got a timeshare.
So then.... he has never stopped doing this?
My cat used to do this all the time for no good reason. I say no good reason, it was definitely checking if it could get any purchase in anticipation of eating me.
Mine yowls somewhere in the house till I ask what the matter is. She then runs up to me, I ask her to take me to the matter and she expects me to follow her. Usually to the food bowl or outside door. Sometimes even just or my room so she can sleep on my bed. ( but I have to stay with her)
Same or he wants treats or fresh water.
Or he’s in pain.
Wants attention for my dog means most waking hours
My cat does as well! Except he’s a lot more gentle haha. He’s done it since he was a kitten. Looks like he’s sort of mouthing my hand/fingers and then looks at me in a way when he pauses then tries again.
You can almost see the cogs turning in kitty's brain.
"Shall I poke? No, too subtle. Maybe bite? Mmm too forward. Actually, yes bite, be assertive" nom "I have made a mistake. Be cute."
Every day a new cat subreddit for me to join
Already subscribed lol
This will make a fine addition to my collection
Jesus Christi follow too many subreddits as it is! Stop making me sub to more!
My cat does this too, but if you try to stare him down, he doubles down and tries to rip your face off. Great pet. At least he lets me clean his litter box.
Staring is a sign of aggression to cats. The best course of action to stop a cats unwanted behavior is to ignore it, and reward wanted behavior.
Why ignore the bad behavior? That I am confused by.
What else would you do besides ignore it? If they do something bad and you give them a response they'll just keep doing it. Cats don't learn from punishment so that's out of the question.
I'm not an expert but it's just what I've learned and I've heard yields the best results. Seems to work with my mom's little yappy dog too.
"uh... meow?"
Not a jerk. That's a love bite, so pet the damn cat.
The cat in the OP looks so pettable. This is a crime.
What the hell happened here?
I'm not sure what you're asking
Debatable. If you don't want to encourage the behavior you shouldn't pet them. That bite didn't appear to hurt, however when my cat bites for attention it's painful so I don't indulge her.
Yeah just because the behavior is "natural" doesn't mean you should encourage it. If you don't want an animal to bite you, then you can train it not to bite you. That's literally the definition of a domesticated animal.
A lot of cat people don't understand the least about about basic psychology and behavioral training. They get a cat because they don't want to train a dog
I heard there was something related to how they were socialized with their litter when they were young that determines how much they understand about how bites hurt. My 12 y/o cat, we don't know anything about how he was socialized, but we got him at 10 months and he's never bitten us hard. He's very restrained, calm, and gentle with everything. Some kind of Siamese lynx mix, we weren't sure with what.
My sister got a calico and that little shit leaves scars.
My cat is the gentlest boy. I think he was a bit too young to have been separated from his mom but thankfully his separation anxiety with me is very mild and he’s turned out to be just the perfect cat. When we play, he knows not to use claws on me, and when he doesn’t like what I’m doing to him (like when it’s time to get nails trimmed or if I have to clean poop out of his butt fur 🙄) he will do the gentlest bite. I might not even clock it as a bite, more like putting his mouth on my arm. He’s so sweet. I really lucked out.
Ya I have a calico rescue whos older, adopted her late last year and she's literally never bitten me or some close. Even when I need to force her in the carrier to go to the vet and we have a fight lol.
She's declawed, which is sad found her that way so she doesn't scratch - but you would think she may bite to compensate and I can literally do anything to that cat and she's never done anything but meow at me in the most heartbreaking tone saying "I don't like this, why are we doing this?" Usually trim back nails, the rare bath, vet etc.
So both of my kitties love to socialize with people but they were very bitey as kittens. As they grew up I made it a point any time they bit to act really hurt and leave the room and not come back for a while. Eventually they stopped biting because they want people around. I was a bit concerned that I was the one being socialized to leave the room for a while though after the first week of doing this with no results.
Bite tempering, yeah. When they bite their buddies too hard it ends playtime, so they learn not to do that.
Taking a cat away from their mother when too young will do that.
My cat bites and scratches if we try to pet him, but the weird thing is he always wants attention.
My cat is very gentle now however when he was a kitten he would bite harder playfully it didn't hurt back then cause he was very tiny. As he got older his bites started to hurt so whenever it got painful I would say ouch and he'll stop and sit in a corner all sad. Now he's 7 and bites very gently. He's very gentle with my mother but plays rougher with my brothers because they allow him to bite them rougher. I think some cats are just assholes and some are sweet cause they are capable of understanding when their bites hurt.
I got my seven year old cat when he was three months old and he has never bit. No exaggeration. He has never bit a person not even once. If he doesn’t like something he will just get up and walk away. If he wants attention, he will head butt you.
I suppose my cat doesn't bite either, he also head butts, but if I'm playing with him with my fingers under a blanket he won't bite hard then.
Sure, let’s positively reinforce biting with petting. Great idea
The amount of people who don't get this is why there are so many asshole cats.
One of my cats gets like this occasionally... usually, it's after she's already had many, many pets and just wants more. It's pretty cute, but she's also being a needy jerk by that point.
I forgot my headphones and came back upstairs with my motorcycle helmet on. Cat, who is normally skittish, goes berserk and claws me and bites my arm. Had to get antibiotics for it a few days later. Good to know he’s at least a decent guard cat.
But uh... pet your cat before the biting stage. It’s almost 100% certain to get infected (per my doctor who said he also has two cats).
She/he taught about slapping your arm first, lol.
"Pay attention to me or i'll eat you human"
They mostly come out at night, mostly...
Her reaction is cat like. We go in for the skritches, they give you a glare and look away with malicious disinterest.
And he has the audacity to look at her with those eyes saying “What? What did I do?” hisses
hi uh, chomp
Cats sometimes test if they can eat you
Aah love bites.
If you give an immediate loud reaction, like "OW!!", this teaches the cat that it hurts, and they shouldn't do it.
My kitty used to love bite me hard when he got really excited, but after slowly showing him it hurts, he now only opens his mouth just barely so when he pushes his face up on me it's like he's giving a little human kiss.
Omg this just reminded me of my baby who would be lying around but if I lowered my face and made a kissy sound she would walk up to me and let me kiss her nose. I miss her
That animal will eat you in your sleep lady
Your cat will eat your body if you die in the house.
The best part is the stare of disdain that the cat really did not like.... human-1 .... cat-0
Cat - "What?!"
and then the cat has the audacity to look at you as though you offended THEM.
Chloop
you're trying to bait me arent you
“You know what” (chomp eye contact ) that was a mistake I’m so sorry
See the proper thing is to say, “ow” real loud and sharp, and close kitty out of the room for five minutes
Sure, it might happen again, but being completely removed is something kitty doesn’t want. Kitty wants attention, good or bad, attention is wanted. Kitty will learn that biting means they can’t even try for attention.
Train. Your. Cats.
I love the stare at the end

Bite em back
Ha ha! My cat dies this while I'm working, except he bites my elbow! WTH?
Jerk!
Cats are such assholes 😂
That cat is gonna kill her one day
That cat wants attention. The human is the jerk.
chomp
The only time my cat bites is when she's doing kitty facerubs and just unhinges her jaw when she gets to my beard stubble. It's weird that the only time she bites is when she's extremely comfortable.
When she's annoyed with a lack of attention or never-enough wet food, she just does laps around me at my dask, jumping over my keyboard repeatedly.
Mine does that if I ignore him
what a beautiful kitty!
The cat was getting ready to hit you but then decided to bite instead. Sounds a lot like my ex actually
Checking to see if human is edible
This whole subreddit should be just for cats
Why do people own these creatures?!? 😝😁😝

I say this a lot on cat threads and always get downvoted. Cracks me up people think I'm serious. And I use Smiles everytime to indicate I'm joking.😝
Another man of culture I see
Aaaaa i need this with sound
Bite it back!
This is the most cat thing I've ever seen
Fuck this and most cats
Bop that little fucker on the nose and ignore him when he does that shit, you're just enabling it by ignoring it.
He’s telling you to get that mole checked out
Ok that’s super cute
CHOMP <3
Edit: this was crossposted to the sub 2 hours ago. My bad for not checking first
Haha ,y cat does this but always bites the loose skin at the back of my elbow.
My cat will do very similar if I’m not paying attention to her. Like, I’ll be sitting in my chair playing games, and either she’s in my lap and wants more attention, or wants in my lap for attention. Just a little “nib”, my gf and I call it. Doesn’t hurt, but gets my attention for sure.
My cat doesn't bite, but sometimes I feel her teeth when cuddling. They are so insanely spikey, how does this not hurt the woman? I wouldn't want to get what my cat may have in her mouth in my blood, tbh...
I want to hear that meow!
My life since lockdown, except with a puppy.
Can this be sign that the cat is restless or want to play?

yeah online school is so hard to do with this happening 24/7
The way they lock eye contact...
The only time one of my cats would ever do this was to play fetch. He would drop a ball or something by you and purr. If you ignored him he would give a light bite and purr and wait for his toy to be thrown.
Fucking cats!!!... Lol....
My cat does this daily.
Thats not the cat being a jerk it's the owner
"JUST PET ME HOOMAN"
Rename the page to cats bein cunce 🤦
Kitty wants that attention, that's all. It's more of trying to grab then bite you.
He just wanted to get some love
Awww he just wanted to say hiii! 😍
JUST PET THE KITTY.
"Hey human, recognize:: lucky I don't cut you up "
My cat does this! Why do cats do this?
Just checking if you'd be OK if he ate you for survival at a later stage
He’s not being a jerk this is how they give kisses 🥺
This cat’s social skills are way better than mine
what an asshole. how dare they hurt that poor kitties teeth </3
Bruh my cat does this if I start looking at my phone for more that 5 minutes
Dogs
My cat can be the same way but he’ll be the first to break the stare
I am more afraid ofnthe blond cat 🙀
I love cats but I can’t help but freak out whenever they nonchalantly go for a nibble, why do they do this?
Whenever my friend’s cat would do it to me it was always a second or so after brushing against my leg!
The stare down after got me
