#Political Posts
Political posts and discussions are allowed here, but /r/Alabama is non-partisan. Personal attacks, lies, smears, and ugliness is over the line; the post or comment may be removed, and if there's continuing transgressions, banning may result.

Consider instead /r/AlabamaPolitics, which is specifically set up for the hurl and burl of Alabama politics. Cross-posts to, or from, there are welcome.

#Rules
1. **Be respectful.** Please refrain from personal attacks and posting anything racist (this includes images) or prejudicial (incest jokes are old and unfunny). 

2. All submissions should be directly related to Alabama.

3. Blanket insults and attacks on Alabama and its citizens based on stereotypes and caricatures is not allowed. This does not preclude criticism--even fierce criticism--of the state, its people, and its policies; only that which is blatantly insulting and caricatures the state in an effort to gin up outrage and lulz.

4. Not Safe For Work content is not allowed on r/alabama. This includes graphic images or descriptions of violence, sexual content, and nudity. Exceptions include: images/videos of an Alabama disaster, like tornado footage; and newsworthy footage/images of violence that are marked NSFW and censored if possible. 

5. Limit re-posting. Posting differing views of a topic is fine. If a submission is too similar to another existing thread, it may be removed. Those types of posts should be made as comments to the existing thread.

6. Direct solicitation is not allowed. This includes political solicitation (donate to my campaign!) and economic solicitation (come to my restaurant for 50% off!). Exceptions include information about a local event like a music festival, personal blogs that do not solicit products or services, and advertisement of petitions for Alabama-specific issues.

7. Editorializing linked post titles is not allowed. When linking to articles from outside reddit, try to keep post titles as close as possible to the original source. Adding detail or context is allowed, as long as it does not fundamental change the original title or adds opinion or commentary not intended by the author. Do not post links to articles as a text post without additional commentary or context.

8. No false or misleading information. Categorically false or misleading information is not allowed. This is not to limit discussion on things that may be uncertain, but rather to prevent the propagation of demonstrably untrue information from bad-faith actors.
