What can Africans do to help our Congolese brothers?
Open Mic AfricaPublicly call out tech companies for knowingly using rare earth elements in their supply chain that are sourced from mines that use slave labor.
I wish people would co-sign to this. I feel Iike social media has divided and distracted people. People move on from issues like this until the next relevant thing of the moment comes up. Like (I know this is totally unrelated), I think it's interesting that people quickly moved on from the guy that burned himself to death near that Trump trial. People seem to have become increasingly desensitized. I'm curious about where humanity will be in 100-200 years.
There should be protests against these tech giants but honestly I kinda feel powerless. Nobody truly cares
I agree. I believe the first step is raising awareness and the second step would be pushing for legislation to address this. More people should care about it because it's disgusting this still continues in modern times.
Stop supporting anything to do or visiting Rwanda 🇷🇼
Rwanda is essentially a "port-country". 200 years ago the Europeans would set up a port-city as a physical intermediary through which goods were exported. These ports became quite wealthy areas for the upper class administration that lived there.
Rwanda is a modern day version of this since it forms part of the administrative structure that helps multinational companies to extract rare earth elements from the Eastern DRC.
Boycot rwanda
Let them stew in their own mess till they decide to change things for themselves . Its the local politicans screwing them over
Its not that simple their eastern neighbours are more responsible in this then their government
