I wish to visit the entire world, but I don't want to be bored becouse of racism
Which countries globally are no go zones for black Africans wishing to travel the world & not suffer for being black?
African Discussion 🎙️I've travelled to so many countries where people have warned me not to go because I'm black and besides some stares I have never remotely been in danger. And i've travelled well off the beaten track in some of these places
Same time i also hear people say Spain is some super racist place they would never go back to and I go there every year, to different parts, and have never had issues. Your experience will vary but don't let things like that put you off,
Each experience would be different depending what region in said countries you've been to. I have been to Sevilla, Spain and experienced racism. I have been to Dubrovnik,Croatia and it was a pleasant trip. I live in Canada and experienced racism when visiting Seattle "most liberal city" in the USA West Coast.
It also depends in what racism is? Is staring you racism? Refusing service because you're foreigner? (Japan and South Korea come to mind)
It’s insane how racist and xenophobic Asians countries can be without anyone batting an eye. I was denied entry into a club in Korea simply because I was a foreigner. That would never fly in Europe or America.
Happens regularly in europe
not in the same way! South Korea is the only place where I have seen signs that said "No Egyptians, Moroccans" etc outside of a club.
Yeah this is all true hence why I said your experience will vary. For me staring isn't racism it would be things like refusal of service, rudeness, abuse, etc. In some bits of the rural Balkans more than a decade ago people straight up told me I was the first black person they'd ever met in the flesh so of course people are going to look. I also feel there is a difference between curiosity and hostility and barring one incident in Serbia I always felt it was curiosity. I think it depends on so many things that you shouldn't be put off, for example I've visited Sevilla and loved it and would recommend it whereas you had a bad experience. But I think it would be sad for people to just deny themselves large parts of the world because of that.
The metropolitan areas of Japan are really safe. Can't say anything about the rural areas. Just be mindful that after the stunts of streamers and Youtubers (i.e. Johnny Somali, Logan Paul, etc.) in Japan breaking the law and doing other unethical things, the Japanese police will more likely approach any foreigner asking for identification and asking questions, especially when they hold their phones or cameras up in the air.
South Koreans are different and can't put it into words since I don't understand it myself that much. There was an interview made by Asian Boss asking foreigners living in South Korea.
