Hi! I resigned from Big4 after 2 busy seasons and naghahanap ng work now. Actually, ang balak ko sana was to take a couple of months vacay but due to financial pressure (nakalimutan kong di ko pala afford magvacay as a breadwinner) napahanap ako ng work. It’s been weeks actually pero so far, wala pa ako gaanong narereceive na updates sa mga pinasahan ko ng resume. Sinasabihan na ako ng mga katrabaho ko noon na it will be better pag umalis ako na meron na akong lilipatan kaso, sobrang toxic talaga ng environment na feel ko, ikakam*tay ko kung mag sstay pa ako for another day sa firm that’s why I pushed through sa resignation. Ngayon tuloy, nahihirapan ako maghanap ng job lalo pa at gusto kong magtransition to Finance since based sa technical qualifications needed, parang pang entry level lang skillset ko.

Now, the regret was not about the resigning part. The regret was on the fact na nagjoin ako sa Big4 because aside from the traumas and anxiety na natanggap ko, di ko gaano dama yung supposedly ✨edge✨ from other applicants as a former Big4 employee. Actually tried applying entry level jobs pero wala din lol. Or baka di lang ako magaling.

Hay, ewan. Nung nakaraan, ginagaslight ko pa sarili ko na baka masyado lang akong nagmamadali, masyadong picky. Ngayon na isang buwan na since nagpasa ako ng applications and still no updates, parang I was forced to accept na I really am conned into joining the firms.

Magrarant lang po sana ako dito and also ask for your help na rin kung anong pwedeng gawin to take my life back.

Almost 2 years na ko sa auditing firm, passed the LECPA na rin, and road to senior na rin (sana). Pero I decided to quit because I feel like nanakaw na yung buhay ko and I have nothing left.

I was assigned sa isang engagement and first time na nagkaroon ako ng sup (laking pasalamat ko na sana kasi di ko na sosolohin lahat). At first okay naman yung sup, pero habang tumatagal narerealize ko, "anong pinagsasabi neto?". Tinuturuan nya ako when it comes to whats, whys and hows ng mga audit procedures. But when it comes to accounting principles, para syang nag iimbento. Nung una akala ko talaga ako yung mali, like mago-overthink ako na "all this time since college, mali ba yung alam ko?". Naapektuhan mental health ko sa ganon (feel ko nagagaslight na rin ako kasi buong araw ko iisipin na mali ako) since akala ko laging tama sya kasi sya yung sup. Then dumating sa point na narealize ko sya yung mali, so kapag may sinasabi syang hindi tama, di ko na papansinin nalang (di ko na ico-correct kasi egoistic syang tao as in). Kaso when doing my working papers, aba grabe sya, ni isang libong forex difference ayaw palagpasin, iinquire daw sa client. HALAKABE! Shookt ako kasi obvious naman na magkaibang forex ginamit namin sa ginamit ni client kaya magkakadifference.

Masyado pa syang bidabida sa estetik ng working papers, yung may mas mahalaga sana akong gagawin, yung may value, papaunahin nya ayusin yung estetik. As a person na mas priority yung subtance over form, di ko alam ano uunahin ko, limited lang time namin for the engagement pero sya mapilit talaga. Minumura ko na sya ng sobra sa isip, sa salita at sa gawa.

Umabot sa point na gusto ko na talaga magresign dahil sa kanya. Kasi mangungulit yan kahit after working hours, makita nya lang akong online kahit 10pm, magmemessage yan at maguutos. Minsan wala pang 30mins magfafollow up na agad kung tapos na ba. Ang dami nya ring paulit ulit na pinapatanong sa client, kahit client inis na kasi paulit ulit daw. Kahit available naman yung information gusto nya pa ipatanong sa client para daw sure. Jusko!

Yung mental health ko di sya kinakaya. Lagi pa ipapasa sakin ang sisi kapag nagagalit na yung manager.

Then I noticed changes in me, yung dating dalawang cup ng rice na kinakain ko, 2 spoon nalang per meal (may makain lang). Yung kapag lalabas kami ng mga friends ko, mapapansin nilang lutang na lutang ako, kasi iniisip ko yung work, minuminuto din akong napasabi ng "gusto ko na magresign". Naging malungkutin ako, I lost a LOT of weight, yung dating nakangiti ngayon di na makatingin sa mata ng mga tao, di ko na rin kaya makipag usap. I dont know if connected lahat ng to. Kaya yung workload, yung sup hindi.

And it's been 2 months, and now, di pa rin ako nakakabawi. As in lugmok na lugmok ako sa buhay. Isolated myself from the world, di na ako nakikipagkita sa friends, di na ako lumalabas, found a new work pero di ko kayang magstart, natrauma ata ako, natatakot magkaron ng same superior na ganon.

For context, isa po akong auditor sa isang BPO with 5 plus years of experience. Pure external audit experience (with smsf) lang yung experience ko. I want to transition to accounting / tax since lagi na ako may anxiety tuwing Monday. Ramdam ko na hindi ko na talaga gusto ang audit.

Sa dami ng naapplyan ko, meron po akong bilang na bilang na interviews and yung isa sanang successful na interview ko eh nagkatalo naman kami sa compensation so ang ending hanap ulit haha.

Sa mga successfull po na nakalipat ng career, baka meron po kayong career hack na maisheshare pano kayo nakalipat. Tips and trips sa pag aapply etc. Pashare naman po please huhu. Tysm po 🥹🫶🏻

It's been 2 weeks since my manager's interview pero wala pa ring update, nagfollow up na rin ako pero walang reply. Sa mga nag-apply rin ano po update sa application niyo? Wala na bang pag-asa kapag ganyan or nagssend naman sila ng rejection email?

for context: i graduated last july 2023 pa pero this may 2024 lang ako nagtake ng boards (which i fortunately passed) so wala pa akong any experience at all sa professional field.

my mom is urging me to join her abroad (in the middle east) if ever she’s able to find a work for me there since according to her, malaki sahod ng mga accountants doon. idk if she’d be successful since fresh grad pa nga lang ako pero di ko rin tinatanggal yung possibility kasi masipag siya sa mga ganyan (job hunting) and may onting network din haha. anyway, my dilemma is that di ko alam if papayag ba ako sa gusto niya or ilalaban ko na dito muna ako sa ph for at least 1-2 years, basta makakuha lang experience sa big 4 kasi nga ang common belief sa industry natin is simulan ang career sa kanila diba?

the higher salary is quite tempting pero iniisip ko lang ano mas makakabuti sa career ko in the long run kasi baka nga mas mataas sa usual yung sahod ko in the entry level kaso wala naman masyado opportunity to grow or change countries ganun? sabi kasi nila working in audit firms will open doors for you daw so yan nakatatak sa isip ko now pero nakakakita rin naman ako posts na that path didn’t work for them daw huhu

is the “big 4 edge” just a myth or a reality naman (for an average person T_T)? please give me any insights,, takot lang talaga ako magkamali sa pagsisimula ng career ko hahaha ayaw ko iregret one day mga desisyon ko sa buhay and ayaw ko rin mastuck lang sa isang field kung di naman pala siya nagwowork for me :<

Hi! I’m graduating this month and plan to take the CPALE agad this October 2024. I want to go to law school eventually though I’d like to be a working student when the time comes.

I hope to work in the private sector or BPO and I know a lot of conventional advice says to work at the Big 4 para pag lumipat sa private, mas mataas ung pwede gawin ko asking.

With that said, is two busy seasons but less than 24 months of work exp in audit at the big 4 enough before jumping ship to private? My job in private will be my work while I study law. Thank you in advanced for your inputs!

I got a new job as an accountant in a fintech company. I usually ask this during the interview, but in this case, I forgot.

So nung first day ko, after the introductions and all, I asked kung ano nangyari sa pinalitan ko. My supervisor was hesitant to answer and actually did not answer.

Pagkahapon kwenento sakin nung senior ko. Nag AWOL daw. Na overwhelm sa trabaho. Mejo may pagka introvert daw kasi so nahirapan maki sama and adjust and all. Kaya daw now, mas preferred nila ang galing big 4.

The thing is, syempre kwento nila yun so sila yung bida HAHAHAHA chz. I did not get to hear the side nung pinalitan ko

What do you think? Is this a red flag? Should I be wary?

Napansin ko lang na may issue ang iba sa isang reviewer book na parang naglalaro sila ng pera o bayong kasi kailangan nilang tabunan yung answer sa baba nung question in order to simulate answering it like an item sa LECPA so isa na yun sa napansin ko na inaddress ng author sa 2024 edition ng book niya.

Kayo, ano yung gusto niyong iaddress na issue/kakulangan ng mga author ng CPALE reviewer books?

Hello po! I'll be starting my first job sa Deloitte on July 15. Any advice on what should I expect and the things that I should be prepared for? Do I have to wear blazer coat at heels po ba? Also, magrirent din po ako ng place sa Pembo, ang sabi po kasi sa'kin sa kabilang subreddit is pahirapan daw po ang commute using BGC bus and most of them ay naglalakad na lang. Kakayanin po kaya lakarin huhu almost 25 mins daw po kasi according to google maps if lalakarin.

On my third year as BSAcc stud going fourth year na after summer class and have pass my last QE but recently, i felt like all the things I have gone through were just a waste of time. From being the top of the class to just "sana makapasa lang", BSAcc really humbled me :((( It feels like everyone esp sa mga friends ko figured out the course they excel in while i'm stuck with this course 😄 Haven't heard any i'm proud of u moment from my mom bcs who else would be proud from that shift of being on top to just aiming to pass but what made it hard is having a sibling who continuously be on top on one of the big 4 uni 😄

Hello! I'm an Accounting Technology graduate, batch '22. Originally, BSA talaga ang gusto kong course but due to my circumstances as working student very limited ang choices ko. I ended up with BSAT because the best school I can find during the time (2017) that accommodates working students was not offering BSA. Now, I want to pursue BSA because I'm hearing that it can be taken as second degree. How true is this? Is there's someone here that has done this?

I tried to enroll sa isang campus ng school ko that offers BSA and they rejected me, dahil unfair daw ito sa ibang students who yearly take qualifying exam. But I also heard stories of people that has done it kaso sa private universities sila nag enroll which I can't afford since i'm self supporting and breadwinner. Hindi ko sila kilala personally so I can't ask for advice. Maybe there's someone who has the same experience, baka may iba kayong massuggest na route or university that accommodates working students.

I now have a more decent paying job because of my degree. It's just that I'm a bread winner and want a better future for my future family as well since I'm not getting any younger. I see this as opportunity to improve my financial situation or maybe it's not the (only) way to go :(
