The whole time she was talking about going back to Mike all I could think about was how miserable she was with him out in the country. She literally hated her life and she hated Mike. I kept thinking, “what does she think will be different?”

I hate to say that I’m more mature than Natalie at almost 15 years younger but I do have enough life experience to know that once you leave a relationship for a good reason, that reason doesn’t usually go away. She thinks she wants Mike but I don’t think she wants the life she had in Sequim and that’s all she’s ever going to get.

They met when his U.S. friend and her Ukrainian friend named them godparents. I have to wonder where his friend found a Ukrainian woman to marry. Was it at one of those marriage beauty pageants, a marriage bus tour for men from the U.S. and other countries (remember Caesar?), or on a marriage website? These are all real things that investigative jounalists have documented and I have commented on.

As someone else posted, they were together during covid lockdown. She went nuts because she was a city girl from the vibrant, artistic city that Kyiv was before the war, to a small house on an island. She is from eastern Europe, and didn't speak English that well.

Mike's mother was cruel to her, because she's ignorant. And Mike didn't stand with his wife.

Natalie did want a family with Mike. She also had a false sense from American media, of what it would take to have an acting career in the U.S. (I was born in the U.S. and was a fairly successful actor in a smaller market for 10 years. Then I had a baby, and moved, and it was work enough to raise him pretty much on my own, and teach, much less go on auditions constantly.)

So, in the midst of all of this swirling conflict, TLC offers her a very tempting escape. "Hey, we'll move you to warm, sunny Florida where you'll star in our show!!! We recognize your talent!"

I blame the show somewhat for contributing to the downfall of their marriage.

Now, she's in L.A., no job, with a mom to support, and her country destroyed.
