I knew a handful of people who were there. A couple of my racist religious nut relatives and a couple of acquaintances. They all posted videos and pictures... and then took them down. But not before I'd saved the videos and images. The FBI had set up a tip website and I submitted those videos and images along with info about the people there, their social media accounts that I knew of, etc. As far as I know, none of those people entered the Capitol building illegally and that they were just there to protest "peacefully". Which is fine. Stupid, but fine. I doubt anything ever came from those tips I submitted, but I'm hopeful they helped.

If the video shows a crime being committed with the face blurred out, then the FBI can simply request an unblurred copy. Failure to comply could end up with an obstruction charge.

Software can identify each unique face in the footage, reducing the work from "review 44 thousand hours of footage" to "identify each of several hundred people from their appearance in public photo databases" (e.g. Facebook, etc).
Facial recognition is a good tool, but it's much easier to make a case if they have a sworn testimony stating "ooh yeah, that's my uncle Bob, he did that crime on camera". Plus, facial recognition can only go so far. Security cameras will probably only get a good enough photo to match with X% of the population. If you're talking slightly chubby middle aged white men, that doesn't narrow it down too much.
Every tool available should be brought to bear on these traitors.
Once Uncle Bob has been identified, asking his relatives and neighbors if the guy in the footage is him becomes much easier.

There was a famous arrest of a prolific online child abuser a few years ago because of something like this. The guy posted his own photo, but used software to mix up the pixels. While it was possible to identify the profile pic as a person, it was impossible to identify them.
Then someone developed an algorithm that was able to reverse the mixing, and interpol had a crystal clear mugshot of the guy they were after.
Not mass arrests, just arrests for illegal actions.
Strong agree. The fact we don't live in a country where the government makes mass arrests, and hasn't except during a short period during WW1, is a very good thing and something we should fight for. The fact that the term can be misused like this is, I suppose, a good sign, since it shows how unfamiliar people are with the reality of actual mass arrests.
Because they are delusional and many are under the belief that they are the good guys, that they or those like them were engaging in a peaceful protest and those that were violent were liberals / ANTIFA / deep state.
They believe that the arrest made in connection to January 6th were staged / setup and used the fact that not all footage was public as evidence of a deep state conspiracy. However, there smooth brains have trouble conceptualizing the reality of things so when like in this case the footage is released, and it fails to conform to their beliefs they tend to double down and cling to the next conspiracy. This is a repeating pattern and each time they must accept a more convoluted excuse to the point where their worldview is severally distorted.

Being arrested with these crimes will lead to more Republicans being in jail during election day, so the most fanatical of their supporters will not be there.
Being charged with felonies will lead to them being denied a voice in future elections.
Being denied a vote for a felony will make them suddenly sympathetic with laws that restore their right to vote.
