I think they're Culturally Irrelevant, honestly. The only people who give a shit about Christmas Number 1 anymore are the Radio Stations playing it, maybe the BBC.

Before Streaming took over, Crimbo' No.1 was a big deal, especially in the 90's and early 00's. After X-Factor more or less guaranteed the spot for years before the RATM Campaign stopped it for a year.

After that I think people stopped giving a shit. iTunes and Spotify Charts, Billboard 100 and even Social Media are better barometers to judge popularity.

Whenever he's on talent shows, the second someone is attractive and can at least kinda sing, you can see it in his weird frozen alien face that he just sees £££ flashing in front of his eyes. He isn't passionate about music, those shows are literally a televised casting couch for his music empire. He uses that show to find his next cash cow and as soon as he makes bank off of them, they're never seen again and the next series starts.

X Factor is like Dragons Den but entirely for Simons personal profit. It's not exactly a conspiracy that those shows are fake and dramatised etc, but I just hate how self-serving it is.

I once knew a person who went to college with him in Guildford, Academy of Music (ACM). The person I knew hated him with such a passion because he apparently was terrible at college and would skip classes just to go smoke weed and thus didn’t deserve his music success.

Honestly that kind of made me like him more though.

Not liking him is fine, I don't listen to him either. But he has written hit after hit for himself and a host of other people. The man knows how to write pop music.

Stopped so many people smoking though, so I give him a pass.
